Using Aromatherapy And Homoeopathy As a Natural Path to Clear Skin

As you know there are plenty of over-the-counter acne products out there (even good ones like Exposed Skin Care), but if you have ever had acne, then you know just how tough treating it can be. Acne that just will not go away, no matter what you do on the surface, usually means that there is an imbalance in your body that keeps causing the acne to stick around and over-the-counter products alone may not do the trick.

Treating the symptoms of the imbalance using conventional acne skin care products may offer temporary relief, but it will not treat the internal imbalance. In order to get rid of acne permanently, and heal the body itself from the inside out, less conventional methods of healing may be necessary. Two such methods are aromatherapy and homoeopathy, two of the oldest known methods of treating acne.

Since ancient times, aromatherapy has been used as an effective acne treatment. Aromatherapy incorporates a wide variety of essential oils, like lavender oil or jojoba oil, but one of the best oils used is tea tree oil, readily found in most natural health stores. The antiseptic and anti-fungal properties of tea tree oil make this essential oil a very successful acne treatment. Also, tea tree oil is capable of reducing or eliminating acne-causing bacteria with its antiviral and antibacterial properties.

Science has proven that tea tree oil is effective. The Australian Medical Journal concluded in a study conducted in the 1990's that a 5% concentration of tea tree oil on the face works as well as a 5% concentration of benzoyl peroxide. While tea tree oil may take a little more time to give you results, it does not have as many undesirable side effects - which is always a plus.

There are other oils out there that can also be useful and effective. These include sandalwood, myrrh, lavender, and ylang ylang, all of which are capable of fighting and treating acne. To make the most of the properties of these oils, simply take your favourite oil and release a few drops into a steamy bath or a sink full of hot water. By putting your face in the steam, you can expose your skin to the healing and anti-acne properties of the steam. Just be careful to avoid scalding your skin.

Homoeopathic methodology is now becoming more and more accepted and commonplace, even with medical personnel. This is due to the homoeopathic notion that acne, instead of being caused by superficial physical agents, is actually caused by internal imbalances within the body that have to be treated with homoeopathic remedies. Homoeopathy does not treat the symptom, but treats the cause of the symptom by giving a kick-start of sorts to the body's natural healing mechanisms. The skin may become broken out with acne when one initially starts homoeopathic treatment, but this is because the body is beginning to detoxify and cleanse itself. Following this initial period, one's complexion should become visibly improved.

You can use these natural methods as a part of a system that also incorporates more traditional acne fighting medicine like Exposed Skin Care to provide you with relief from your acne. As with any change in treatment, make sure you see a doctor or dermatologist before starting a new course of acne treatment.
